The resolution team at Top Tax Defenders is headed by Ms. Teresa K. Pitre, the CEO of Top Tax Defenders. Ms. Pitre worked for the IRS for over 27 years. She started her career in the examination division and spent over 20 years in the Office of Chief Counsel. The IRS Office of Chief Counsel serves as an internal resource for IRS agents and officers. The Office also provides legal guidance and interpretive advice to the Department of Treasury and the general public.
Ms. Pitre is a graduate of Matteo Ricci College, Seattle Preparatory and Seattle University where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Humanities. She attended South Texas College of Law and was awarded a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree. While attending South Texas College of Law, Ms. Pitre received numerous awards and scholarships including awards from the William J. Steeger Scholarship fund and Tax Executives Institute.
Ms. Pitre is a member of various legal and professional organizations including the Texas State Bar and the National Bar Association. She has made numerous public presentations regarding income tax issues for individuals focusing on tax resolution, including a presentation at the National Bar Association Convention in 2009 and 2012 and has attended IRS sponsored National Tax Forums. Ms. Pitre had the honor of being a member of a focus group which presented tax professional concerns to the National Taxpayer Advocate for the Internal Revenue Service.
Ms. Pitre, as CEO of Top Tax Defenders, is a member of the National Association of Tax Debt Resolution Companies.
Ms. Pitre is currently the host of Tax Time Radio (taxtimeradio.com), a talk radio show that provides a forum for the public to get general tax questions answered and information about IRS changes.
